FAQ About Working With CFW

Application
What does Chews Food Wisely actually do?

We help you understand what your body has been trying to tell you and turn that into a clear, realistic plan. At the core of that plan is nutrition, because your food choices are one of the most powerful ways you communicate safety, stability, and nourishment to your body every single day.

We look at how you are eating now, how often you are eating, how balanced your meals are, and how that connects to your energy, digestion, hormones, and mood. Then we teach you how to build meals and rhythms that support your thyroid, hormones, gut, and nervous system instead of working against them.

Who is functional nutrition coaching a good fit for?

Coaching with us is a good fit if you are ready to work on your habits, not just chase the next supplement or quick fix. You are a good fit if you are willing to look at how you are eating, how often you are eating, and how stress and sleep are affecting your body, even if that feels a little vulnerable.

You do not need to be perfect. You just need to be willing to learn and take small, consistent steps with food and daily routines. We work especially well with women who feel dismissed, who have been told their labs are normal, or who feel like they have tried everything and still do not feel like themselves.

What happens after I apply to work with you?

After you submit your application, our team personally reviews it. We look at your goals, budget, medical history, and any labs you have already completed. Then we reach out by email and text to walk you through next steps and answer questions.

If one of our standard options is not a perfect match, we can explore a more personalized care path. The goal is to fit the right level of support to your needs and your life.

How do I know if this process is right for me?

You are likely a great fit if you:

  • Want answers instead of more guessing
  • Are open to learning about your body
  • Want personalized guidance instead of generic plans
  • Are ready for realistic, sustainable habits that stick

If you want education, clarity, and long term support, this process is built for you.

The Process
What symptoms tell me it is time to get support?

It may be time to get support if you notice:

  • Chronic fatigue or burnout, even when you are sleeping
  • Bloating, constipation, loose stools, or feeling puffy after meals
  • Brain fog, anxiety, irritability, or low mood
  • Heavy, painful, or irregular cycles
  • Stubborn weight changes or “feeling puffy” despite your effort
  • Cold hands and feet, hair shedding, skin changes, or acne

These are common signs that your thyroid, hormones, gut, and blood sugar are asking for support. Food patterns, meal timing, and under nourishment are often a big part of the root cause, which is exactly where we help you rebuild.

How is this different from a regular dietitian or generic meal plan?

Many traditional approaches focus on calories, macros, or short term weight goals. We focus on nourishment, safety, and long term metabolic health.

As functional dietitians, we look at how your current food patterns are affecting your blood sugar, stress hormones, thyroid signaling, gut health, and inflammation. Then we teach you how to build meals that are realistic, satisfying, and supportive so you are not constantly starting over.

Instead of handing you a rigid meal plan, we help you create simple frameworks and habits that fit your real life and actually stick.

How much time and energy do I need to commit?

You do not need hours of free time or a perfect kitchen routine. You do need a little space to think about your meals, prepare simple options, and check in with how your body responds.

Most clients make progress by using meal frameworks, basic grocery lists, and small routine shifts like eating breakfast, adding protein, or spacing meals more evenly. Our job is to help you find the easiest path that still supports your body.

What does the nutrition therapy process look like?

Nutrition therapy is front loaded with education, support, and deeper assessment. Early on, we meet more frequently and may order labs if appropriate. As your symptoms improve, we transition into a maintenance rhythm so your habits become more automatic.

Is there a minimum time commitment?

Yes. Because our work is very educational and habit based, we usually require a two month initial commitment. This gives you time to learn, implement, and actually feel the shifts you have been craving.

What do you mean by a high touch experience?

High touch support means you receive:

  • Frequent early contact
  • Private chat support between visits
  • Clear next steps after each session
  • Real time adjustments based on your feedback

You are never left to figure things out alone.

What can I expect over the long term?

As you feel better, we usually shift into a maintenance phase. Many clients follow up one to two times per year for lab reviews, fine tuning, and support through new seasons of life.

Labs & Investment
Do I have to do lab testing to work with you?

Not always. Many women feel a lot better with nutrition and lifestyle shifts alone. We recommend lab testing when your symptoms and history suggest that we need deeper clarity to move forward.

Labs help us see how your body is handling blood sugar, inflammation, detox, hormones, and nutrient status underneath the surface. That information lets us be more precise with your nutrition and long term plan.

What labs do you typically run?

Depending on your symptoms and goals, we may use:

  • Blood micronutrient testing looking at intra and extra cellular levels
  • Full thyroid panel beyond TSH alone
  • Lipid panel for cholesterol and fat metabolism
  • Complete blood count
  • Blood sugar and insulin related markers
  • Inflammation and detox related markers
  • Stool testing such as GI MAP
  • DUTCH hormone testing
  • HTMA mineral analysis

We also review any past labs you already have so we are not repeating testing you do not need.

Can you use labs I already have from my doctor?

Yes. We encourage you to bring past labs. They often contain helpful information about thyroid function, iron status, blood sugar, inflammation, and more.

We interpret them through a functional lens and then decide together if additional testing would add value. From there, your nutrition and lifestyle plan is tailored to what your labs and symptoms are both telling us.

Do you take insurance?

We do not bill insurance directly. Functional nutrition care is often more comprehensive than what insurance is set up to cover. Instead of short, rushed visits, you receive education, time, and support that focus on root causes and long term health.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes. Many clients use HSA or FSA cards for services and eligible lab testing. We can provide detailed receipts that you can submit to your plan when appropriate.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. We offer payment options so your care feels more accessible and sustainable. You will see the investment clearly outlined before you commit so there are no surprises.

What is the difference between 1 to 1 coaching and a Lab Bundle?

1 to 1 coaching includes regular visits, private chat support, habit coaching, food logging feedback, and hands on education. It is ideal if you want support not only understanding your body, but also putting the plan into daily action.

Lab Bundles are designed for self driven women who want data and direction. They do not include live visits, but you receive personalized recorded reviews, written protocols, and functional interpretation of your lab results so you can implement the plan at your own pace.
