Gut Friendly Foods for Thyroid Health

A healthy gut can have a big impact on your thyroid function! 🌟 By incorporating gut-friendly foods into your diet, you can improve digestion, support nutrient absorption, and balance inflammation—key ingredients for optimal thyroid health. đŸ’Ș

Here at CFW, we break gut healing down into three main categories that all work together:

  1. Digestive Capacity: How well your body can break down foods.
  2. Gut Lining Integrity: The ability of your immune system and gut lining to protect against harmful bacteria while absorbing nutrients.
  3. Microbial Balance: The balance of good “bugs” versus bad “bugs.”

Here are some delicious gut-friendly foods to consider adding to your routine:

  • Fermented Foods (like kimchi and yogurt): 🌿 Packed with probiotics, they help restore healthy gut bacteria that play a role in thyroid hormone conversion.
  • Leafy Greens: đŸ„Ź High in fiber, they support digestion and detoxification while providing prebiotics to fuel beneficial bacteria. Brightly colored veggies also help promote good immune function and gut lining! A better-balanced immune system decreases food sensitivities!
  • Bone Broth: đŸČ Rich in collagen and amino acids, it promotes gut lining health and is packed with minerals that help your cells absorb thyroid hormones for all those metabolism-boosting benefits!
  • Avocados: A great source of prebiotics, helping nourish your beneficial gut bacteria. Avocados are also a great source of healthy fat which helps to build cell membranes and lubricate the GI tract. Not to mention, the high potassium levels in avocados helps to stabilize your blood sugar for lasting energy, helps the cells draw thyroid hormones in, and relaxes the bowels for easy-to-pass BMs.

Keep your thyroid and gut in sync—because when they’re happy, your metabolism will dance and your digestion won’t miss a beat! 💃đŸ•ș

If you’ve ever wondered if your tummy troubles are related to something being “off” inside your GI tract, one of our favorite ways to figure this out is through comprehensive stool analysis using the GI MAP. We commonly analyze this with our 1:1 private partnership clients to dive into what is going on and what to do about it!
