Estrogen Dominance

Estrogen Dominance

Balanced hormones are the name of the game when it comes to whole-body bliss. Estrogen and progesterone need to be in balanced to support strong bones, smooth skin, optimal metabolism, and prevention of blood clots. When these get out of whack and you have more estrogen relative to other sex-hormones, this is called “Estrogen Dominance.”

Estrogen dominance can happen for a variety of reasons, but the main reasons include:

  • High input: exposure to estrogenic compounds either in the environment or food sources
  • Low output and detoxification: constipation, impaired detoxification, poor lymphatic drainage, MTHFR mutations, delayed ovulation, aromatization of testosterone, inflammation, high body fat percentage, nutrient deficiencies, and more.
